Houston: Kid friendly attractions, museums, and more

Houston, TX, the city we call home, is a city that offers something for everyone, including families, ESPECIALLY families. With a wide variety of attractions, from museums and parks to zoos and amusement parks, there is no shortage of things to do and see in this vibrant city for some family fun. In this post, we’ll explore some of our favorite family-friendly activities in Houston.

  1. Space Center Houston: Located just a short drive from downtown Houston, Space Center Houston is the official visitor center for NASA’s Johnson Space Center. It’s a great place for families to learn about the history and future of space exploration. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits, see real spacecraft and artifacts, and even take a tram tour of the Johnson Space Center.
  2. Houston Museum of Natural Science: The Houston Museum of Natural Science is a must-visit for families interested in science and natural history. With a wide variety of exhibits, from dinosaurs and fossils to gems and minerals, there is something for everyone. Head up to the 4th floor and you’ll find yourself in our favorite part of the whole museum!
  3. Hermann Park: Hermann Park is a beautiful 445-acre park located in the heart of Houston. It features a variety of attractions, including a Japanese garden, a miniature train ride, and a pedal boat ride. The park also features the Houston Zoo, which is home to over 6,000 animals from 900 species.
  4. Children’s Museum of Houston: The Children’s Museum of Houston is a fun and educational destination for families with young children. The museum features a variety of interactive exhibits, including a Kidtropolis, where kids can learn about money and economics by running their own city. The boys really enjoy the diner and newsroom! The museum also offers workshops and events throughout the year.
  5. Kemah Boardwalk: The Kemah Boardwalk is a waterfront amusement park located about 30 minutes from downtown Houston. It features a variety of rides and attractions, including a Ferris wheel, a roller coaster, and a boardwalk bullet. The boardwalk also features a variety of restaurants and shops, making it a great place for families to spend an entire day.
