Having kids is like that saying in Forrest Gump. It’s “like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get”. And that’s just the beginning. Having 4 kids, well, some call it crazy. And having 4 boys!? I call it life. But, damn, I wouldn’t change one bit of it. Wellllll maybe one thing, ya know, the whole my truck always smelling like sweaty feet and boy-ness. Blegh! But other than that, nothing. I laugh harder than I knew possible daily and watching these little bundles of smiles, attitudes, and poopy diapers change every day is probably my favorite pastime.
Daddy travels for work quite a bit so it’s often just me and them so it’s clear on some days why people often look at me and say I look like I need 4 margaritas and a 12-day vacay. But, really, it’s become quite easy being these boys’ mom. When some mothers out in public make comments on a daily basis like “I can’t believe you come here with all of your kids! I only have 2 and wouldn’t bring them here by myself” or “ man you must really have your hands full” I try my best not to show the disgust on my face just hearing people say things like that but to some extent, yeah, I get it. I mean I’ve heard them all. This is my life. I wouldn’t rather be anywhere else without them. Trust me, I’ve tried. A night away with the hubby still ends up with us missing the kids too much to fully enjoy. Parenting at its finest.
As a mom so many aspects of “normal” life is changed. But I told myself from the beginning that I was going to spend the rest of it including my kids on the things I did and loved before I became a mom and that’s exactly what I do. We are an active family. We ALL play soccer, we participate in volleyball, we hike (often) and are on-the-go all the time. When it comes to traveling, we will take it how we can get it. Take me anywhere! Exploration is the key to adventure. We also actively help the less fortunate, the homeless, senior citizens, and at charity events every chance we get.
This is us just trying our best, and this is me trying to find my mind that I lost years ago one comical adventure at a time!
