When you think of Spring Break, I don’t know about you, but I think of sun, water, fun, and family time! And that is exactly what our first round of break consisted of, in Phoenix, AZ.
Hubby is in his busy season with work which means he’s always gone. When we get breaks from school and he’s within driving distance, we load up the truck and meet him out of town/state. This is our second time being to Phoenix. Our first was exactly a year ago. We always have the best time but mostly because we loooooove the sunshine and if its one thing that Arizona isn’t lacking in it’s heat, definitely heat.
Here is a recap of our stay in Phoenix!
Accommodations: We stayed in the Residence Inn Phoenix Chandler/South. It’s a beautiful property surrounded by a pond and creek. We were in their 2 bedroom suite and it was the perfect size for us. Comes with full kitchen and 2 bathrooms, which really was the best part. They have a great complimentary breakfast every morning and Mon-Wed evening they do a small reception with snacks and certain complimentary beverages. We enjoyed their pool and jacuzzi a few times and the employees were great.
Dining: When it comes to eating, we are pretty basic and we ate at places like BJ’s Restaurant, Buffalo Wild Wings, and a great Mexican restaurant called Nando’s Mexican CafĂ©. We did try Cracker Barrel for the first time with the grandparents, and wow, it is as delicious as everyone says.
Entertainment: We are pretty easily entertained, especially just being somewhere new. But we did some super cool things in Phoenix.
We visited the Phoenix Zoo! First off, anything with animals or something that is living and moves, we are sold. Because we love it, but also because we all have such a great time watching Kannyn just go bonkers at how cool it is. He’s the freaking CUTEST, his big brothers are amazed at his wonder! The zoo was great and everything we expect from a zoo. It was bigger than we thought but not too big that it was overwhelming. We took a 20 minute safari tram ride where we learned some interesting facts about the animals they have there, like, did you know that anteaters don’t eat ants at all? We strolled through the land of BIG!BUGS! Which was animatronic giant insects…that moved…huge…bugs. Cool…if you’re into bugs hah! We moseyed over to lunch time for the giraffes and got to all feed them a snack, then we fed our own faces and the food was pretty dang good! Definitely recommend check it out!
We met up with my long time friend and her family and had a lot of fun at Jake’s Unlimited in Mesa. A crazy, cool place for kids and adults alike. You pay to get in and it includes buffet of pizza and pasta and desserts, certain games with a game card, laser tag, unlimited bowling, and some smaller kid rides. That’s pretty explanatory, boys loved it. I had ice cream twice. Yup, I did.
The last thing we did was Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Phoenix. We visited last year as well but since then the name has changed as it used to be Wet N Wild Phoenix. Still just as fun! And since we already have Six Flags Magic Mountain annual passes, this park was included in our annuals for free, SCORE! Fun as any water park is. Love the size though, its just right for me to chill in the middle kiddie area with Kannyn and the boys to go off and ride the slides without me worrying. We had a blast and thankfully it got warm enough because their water is fuh-reeeeezing, fit for a Phoenix heat wave.
There is always so much to do in Phoenix and we miss the warm weather every time we return home. We hope that you enjoy your Spring Break and if you get a chance to go to Arizona, keep our recommendations in mind!
